Description

This volume is a compilation of 13 classic papers on mapping for engineering purposes that have been published in the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and the Geological Society Engineering Geology Special Publications during the past 30 years. It is produced in response to the concerns expressed by a number of senior practitioners in Engineering Geology that were summarized in the first Glossop lecture by Fookes (1997): "I go as far as saying that I believe that engineering geology mapping, even sketch mapping, is particularly underused in British practice ".

By compiling this collection of some of the most important papers on mapping for engineering, Dr Griffiths aims to introduce a new generation of engineering geologists to the cost effective techniques of engineering geological and geomorphological mapping.

This publication would be of interest to practicing engineering geologists, civil engineers, undergraduate and postgraduate engineering geologists, earth scientists, and geomorphologists. The publication could also be used as a basic undergraduate and postgraduate reference book for courses in applied geology, environmental geology and engineering geology.
