Earth Science Week 2024
From 13–19 October 2024, Earth Science Week will celebrate the theme "Earth Science Everywhere".
The year’s theme emphasises the influence geoscience has in our homes, in products, roads and transportation, and across STEM disciplines and the humanities. This theme will hopefully encourage individuals to appreciate how geoscience relates to their interests, communities and future pursuits.
Each October, the Geological Society coordinates Earth Science Week in the United Kingdom, in cooperation with the American Geoscience Institute and the wider international geoscience community. Earth Science Week promotes responsible stewardship of the Earth through celebratory events and opportunities to discover the Earth Sciences, involving community groups, educators, and citizens.
As a Society, we celebrate by hosting a variety of outreach and public engagements events for all ages. In the past, this has been through film screenings, free Earth science family fun days, artistic competitions and science communication masterclasses.

Apply for funding:
Every year, we offer a number of small grants of up to £250 to assist with the running of events during Earth Science Week.
Applications are welcome from organisations or individuals running events with a public engagement and outreach focus.
