The Southern Wales Regional Group aims to serve the geoscience community in South Wales through a programme of lectures, seminars, field trips and social events.
Our members are a mixture of those working in the industry, for regulators and in academia, and we aim to provide a wide range of lecture topics and events to reflect this variety. We also look to engage with our next generation through the Schools Geology Challenge, careers evening and Early Career Geologist Award.
To be kept informed on our talks and activities, please log into your MyGSL account and edit your profile. Your regional group is based on your correspondence address - Southern Wales postal districts are CF, LD, NP, SA. You will get email reminders if you select the option for correspondence at the bottom of the 'Edit Profile' tab. You can also email [email protected] or [email protected] and we will add you directly to the mailing list.
Our talks are generally held at Cardiff University's main building on Tuesdays, with wine and cheese from 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. All are more than welcome to attend.
For those seeking to further a career in all aspects of geoscience, our meetings will enhance any Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record and our committee are very happy to offer advice and a helping hand.
If you have any feedback, ideas for future events or want to get involved, please contact us via [email protected].
