The Society is a vital forum in which geoscientists from a broad spectrum of disciplines can exchange ideas, and is renowned for its cutting edge scientific meetings and globally recognised geoscience publishing. It also plays an important role in the communication of geosciences to government, the media, students and the broader public.
The Society sponsors over 100 conferences a year, covering all aspects of geoscience. It has a network of specialist groups and joint associations, as well as regional groups across the UK.
The Society has a Publishing House based in Bath, which produces the Society’s journals. There is also a successful book-publishing programme, many of which are related to the meetings sponsored by the Society.
Located at Burlington House, Piccadilly, the Society shares a courtyard with several other scientific societies as well as the Royal Academy of Arts, placing it at the centre of an important meeting place for the arts and sciences.
Unless otherwise indicated, all posts are based in our office in Piccadilly, central London. We have a small number of staff in Bath where our Publishing House is located.
