This is a rare opportunity to visit St. Peter's Church in Northampton. It is a fine Norman church and contains a memorial to William Smith, who is buried in the churchyard in an obscure grave, having died at nearby Hazelrigg House on 28 August 1839. The building also contains some Saxon carving, and was refurbished by George Gilbert Scott in 1850.

Diana Sutherland, author of 'Northamptonshire Stone', will talk about the local stone used in the building's construction.

Pub lunch to follow.

Time

10.30am

Further details

Depending on numbers and interest it would be possible to visit Brixworth Church; a place of interest in terms of building stones.
