Adrian Wilkinson, Managing Director, Chartered Geologist, SUAS Pilot at Land & Minerals Consulting Ltd
Adrian Wilkinson is an Engineering Geologist and qualified unmanned aerial system (UAS) or ‘drone’ pilot. He is a Chartered Geologist and Fellow of The Geological Society of London, a Member of the European Federation of Geologists, a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying and a Member of the Irish Mining and Quarrying Society. He holds an honours Degree in Applied and Environmental Geology awarded from The University of Birmingham in 1993 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Geotechnics awarded from Camborne School of Mines in 2009. He was formerly employed by RMC (now Cemex) and then Tarmac before forming Land and Minerals Consulting Ltd in 2004. He is a ‘Geotechnical Specialist’ under the Quarries Regulations 1999, a ‘Competent Person’ as defined by the Pan-European Reserves & Resources Reporting Committee for the Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Minerals Reserves (“PERC Standard”), has advised on due diligence for mergers and acquisitions of aggregate quarries and has acted as an Expert Witness on minerals related matters. He also holds a Basic National UAS Certificate (BNUCs) to commercially fly Small Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Specialties: Site Investigations, Geotechnical Assessments, Quarry Development Plans / Working Schemes, Resource and Reserve Reporting, LiDAR Scanning and remote discontinuity mapping using Split-FX and UAV derived photogrammetry, acting as an Expert Witness.

Mark Hudson, Managing Director, Geoterra, will be giving a presentation on recent developments with Geospatial Engineering Innovations focussing on the subsurface laser scanning, multibeam sonar and remote photogrammetry geo-referenced surveying of voids and their deliverables for global geohazards.
Recent case studies will be used to demonstrate the techniques and deliverables, including gypsum mine voids, Thornegate, Carlisle, Limestone/coal mine voids, Edinburgh, Copper mine voids, Ecton Mine, Staffordshire, chalk mine voids, Pinner Wood School, Harrow, abandoned & collapsed railway tunnel, Bradford/Halifax, flooded coal mine voids, Kidsgrove Rail Station, Staffordshire, Tin mine voids, St Austell & Carbis Bay, Cornwall, a sinkhole/bellpit survey at Sappers Field, Wooburn, Buckinghamshire and remote confined space adit/culvert surveys at Folkestone Warren beneath Network Rail tracks.
An update on the speakers involvement with flooded sinkholes and mines Research & Development work on the UNEXMIN/UNEXUP project developing a remote multibeam sonar survey Artificial Intelligence robot, the recent TV5 documentary series on Sinkholes ‘Sucked to Death’ and ‘Sucked Under’ and remote drone surveys of mines via 150mm surface boreholes!
