Raw Materials Empowering Sustainability: Mind the Gap - Window dressing or tools for positive change?

Identify tools, techniques and lessons for positive change. Analyse uses4 and abuses of the concept of CSR, and recognise greenwashing and cherry-picking in reporting. Reflect on how to implement course learning in the workplace.

Learning Objectives

• Decipher the jargon often used within ESG by different stakeholders – do we understand what we are really talking about?
• Identify and test practical tools and techniques that can make ESG a reality within raw materials including:
• Interactive stakeholder mapping
• Interactive understanding of the context in which we are working (now and in the future)
• Interactive identification of potential ESG threats and opportunities that we can incorporate into our projects and organisations.
• Recognising a real control or change that will make ESG a reality (rather than window dressing).
• Recognise greenwashing, ‘ESG-washing’, and cherry-picking in sustainability reporting, why it might have become the norm and what is being done to either eradicate it or evolve it to useful reporting.
• Reflect on learning from the series, and how it can be implemented in participants’ businesses and institutions – ie what are you going to take away and change within your own sphere of influence?
