Join the Natural History Museum to celebrate the bicentenary of William Smith’s pioneering map, which details the intricate geology of England and Wales. Discover the pivotal contribution Smith made to our geological knowledge, and his endeavours and struggles in producing his map.

Simon Winchester, author of the bestselling book ‘The Map That Changed the World, shares stories about the life and accomplishments of the influential geologist William Smith. He also discusses his own personal interest in geology, the journey he took in writing The Map that Changed the World,’ and will answer, questions about his work.

The evening includes striking imagery and a book signing with the opportunity to meet Simon Winchester himself.
