- Analytical methods: Geochronology.
- Supplementary Table A1. LA-ICPMS U-Pb analyses of detrital zircon from metapsammite sample (CET-2) from the Asís Lithodeme, Piaxtla Suite, Acatlán Complex, southern Mexico.
- Supplementary Table A2. Major and selected trace element analyses of rocks from the Asís Lithodeme, Piaxtla Suite, Acatlán Complex, southern Mexico. Analyses determined by X-Ray Fluorescence at St. Mary's University, Halifax. The precision and accuracy of these determinations is generally better than 5%, with the exception of Nb and Cr which is generally better that 10 %.
- Supplementary Table A3. Rare earth element analyses for Asís Lithodeme rocks were determined by instrument neutron activation by X-Ray Assay Laboratories, McMaster University with a precision generally between 5 and 10%.
- Supplementary Table A4. Sm and Nd contents and Nd isotopic composition of the Asís Lithodeme rocks. Chemical separations and isotopic analyses were determined at the Atlantic Universities Regional Isotopic Facility, Memorial University of Newfoundland (see Kerr et al., 1995) The 143Nd/144 Nd ratios are measured by thermal ionization mass spectrometry, after chemical separation of Nd from Sm and other REE by ion-exchange chemistry. La Jolla Nd standard gave an average value of 0.511860. *Nd values are relative to 143 Nd/144Nd = 0.512638 and 147Sm/144Nd = 0.196593 for present day CHUR (Jacobsen and Wasserburg 1980) and lamda 147 Sm = 6.54 x 10-12/year (Steiger and Jäger, 1977). *Nd(t) values are calculated for the present day (t = 0), and for critical times in the evolution of the southern Gondwanan margin: t = 350 Ma, t = 475 Ma and t = 600 Ma. Values quoted in the text are t = 475 Ma. TDM are calculated in two ways (1) following a with respect to the De Paolo mantle model (DePaolo, 1981, 1988) (TDM1) and (2) with respect to a Depleted Mantle with a present day ?Nd0 value of +10 isolated from the CHUR since 4.55 Ga (TDM2). TDM1 values are quoted in the text.
