Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group (VMSG)

We are pleased to invite you to the virtual annual meeting of the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group (VMSG), vVMSG2022, which will be held online at 13:00-18:00 GMT/UTC on 10-12 January 2022. The meeting is being organised by the University of Manchester and hosted online by the Geological Society of London.

VMSG is a Specialist Interest Group of the Geological Society of London and Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland that aims to create an inclusive environment for researchers with interests in volcanology, geochemistry, igneous petrology and allied fields to share and discuss their work. In line with VMSG’s commitments to inclusivity, we aim to provide a supportive setting where all in the community are welcome and valued.

Call for Abstracts

We welcome abstract submissions on any aspect of volcanic and magmatic studies, from mantle heterogeneity to magma dynamics, gas emissions, hazard management and planetary volcanism.

Presenters may request a talk (8 min), a standalone flash talk (2 min) or a flash talk (2 min) and poster. Those presenting flash talks will also have the opportunity to upload a full length presentation to the conference YouTube channel. As far as possible, early career presentation preferences will be prioritised. 

The deadline for abstract submission is 23:59 on 06 December 2021. Please email your abstracts completed with the template provided below to the following emailing address: [email protected]

Postdocs who wish for their submission to be considered for the Zeiss Post-doctoral Keynote Award should email their application form completed with the template provided below alongside their abstract. Instructions for Presenters

All talks and posters should be prepared in advance and supplied to the Local Organising Committee to the following email address: [email protected] by 15:00 on 4 January 2022.

The Local Organising Committee will communicate which types of presentation have been allocated in early December.
