Department of Culture, Media and Sport - Review of Museums in England
Late in September 2016 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport launched a consultation on Museums in England focussing on the challenges and opportunities for museums and the role of government. This included a focus on funding as well as requesting examples of best practice around partnership working, shared services, diversification and digital collections.
You can read more about the consultation on the government website.
We were not well placed to answer many of the questions posed in the consultation so we instead highlighted the Society's document: the 'Statement on the Value of Museums and Collections' as potentially useful background and context to the value of geological collections in the UK and the ways in which different sectors rely on geological collections.
