The two CDs in this product contain the facsimilie edition* and the screen edition** of the 400 page, A2 size, full colour atlas which covers the Danish, Norwegian and UK sectors of the hydrocarbon producing regions of the North Sea from 55°20’N to 62°N. Over 100 authors and contributors, together with over 60 referees from industry, academia and government departments have contributed to this major overview of the structure, stratigraphy, geologic history and hydrocarbon habitat of one of the world’s foremost hydrocarbon producing areas.
This major collaborative effort between geoscientists from the three countries means that maps and sections are presented to the same level of detail from all across the basin. Organised in twenty chapters, the tectonic evolution, basin history and structural framework are covered, as are the main stratigraphic intervals, from the Sub-Devonian to the Holocene times. The fluid contents of the rocks are dealt with in two chapters covering petroleum generation/migration and formation waters and hydrodynamics. In addition, the history of exploration and licensing in the basin is covered, together with a summary of resource assessments.
Significant funding and many pro bono contributions from over 40 corporations has enabled the CD to be sold at a cost within the reach of many.
*The facsimile CD contains an exact replica of the printed version, duplicating the layout of the text, diagrams, chapters etc.
**The screen version has been reformatted so that everything fits onto a computer screen without having to scroll. The text has been separated from the diagrams/figures to allow this but "hot-links" have been inserted within the continuous text to take the reader to the associated diagram or figure. There is no copying or editing allowed from the CD files which are protected. There are print options from either version of the CD.
