The course is intended to give practicing geotechnical specialists (engineering geologists, hydrogeologists and geotechnical engineers) and master’s level students a thorough grounding in the principles and concepts of the methods that can be used to control groundwater for construction and tunnelling projects. 1. To have an understanding of the hydrogeological factors affecting groundwater problems for construction and how these can be controlled 2. To understand the range of groundwater control methods and their characteristics and limitations 3. To have an appreciation of regulatory issues that apply to these type of works 4. To understand the potential mechanisms by which groundwater control can cause external impacts.
