The Geological Society Careers Days 2015
2015 Careers Day, Nottingham
The Geological Society’s Careers Day is the essential meeting place for geoscience students and the geoscience industry, and on 18 November 2015, around 350 students attended the British Geological Survey to listen to presentations on careers and visit an exhibition fair with 22 organisations attending from industry and academia.
Jane Barrett from The Career Farm held a CV writing and interview technique workshop and the slides from her presentation can be downloaded from the box on the right.
The BGS also ran their Geological walks, a 3D visual fieldwork demonstration and a tour of the Keyworth Core Store throughout the day.
2015 Careers Day, Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Careers Day was held at Our Dynamic Earth on 25 November 2015.
250 students attended presentations from early career earth scientists from the oil and gas, mining, engineering geology, hydrogeology, academia and renewables sectors. There was also a Q&A panel on careers. There was an exhibition of 13 organisations including industry, universities and professional bodies.
Sarah Innes, from the Careers Service at the University of Edinburgh, ran three Careers CV Lounges, in addition to giving a lunchtime talk, entitled: 'Marketing Yourself: Top tips for CVs and applications'.
