The Geological Society Wins ‘Society of the Year’ Award

The Society are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious ‘Best Professional or Learned Society 2024’ award by Memcom, at their 2024 Excellence Awards’ ceremony (their annual ‘Oscars’ for membership organisations), which took place in London on 26 September.
This award recognises the hard work of the Society, its Fellows, trustees and staff members. The judges commended the Geological Society for “business improvement, public interest contribution, raising standards of professionalism, inspiring the next generation, collaborative thought leadership, sustainability and other far-reaching impacts on the economy and society at large.”

The Society was represented by two trustees at the event, Dr Neil Frewin (Secretary for Professional & Chartership Matters) and Dr Chiara Petrone (Science Committee), along with three staff members; Samira Bashar (Events), Kate Kwiatek (Membership), and Danielle Tremeer (Publishing).
