Celebrate Earth Science Week 2024! Come and try linocut printing in the Geological Society’s historic Library at Burlington House.
The theme for this year’s Earth Science Week is
Earth Science Everywhere. To those with a keen eye for the textures and patterns of rocks this is absolutely clear. Rock formations and their myriad textures dominate landscapes and cities alike and have inspired artists and scientists for hundreds of years. The advent of printing was revolutionary for the distribution of scientific diagrams and drawings, including rocks, minerals and fossils. This beginner level workshop will give you the opportunity to unleash your creativity and print your own designs inspired by a range of geological features, ranging in texture and scale. Materials will be provided.
