Event details

This is a joint event, organised by the Engineering Group of the Geological Society (EGGS) and the British Geotechnical Association (BGA).

The CIRIA guidance C812 published in December 2023, was written to empower contractors, regulators, and anyone looking to commission a geophysical survey as part of a ground investigation. The guide aims to provide an understanding of what to ask for, and what to expect from a geophysical investigation. It also provides examples of “good practice”, where geophysics has been successfully applied, as well as highlighting potential limitations to surveys. As lead author of the document, Charlotte will give a quick overview of the guide, and present a series of case studies that highlight geophysical investigations undertaken for a range of applications and targets, highlighting the benefits and effectiveness of using geophysics within ground investigations.
