Talk & Workshop Discussion led by Mike Howe (East Midlands Regional Group Chair)

The British Geological Survey Core and Collections stores hold over 12 million samples, mostly from around Britain and the UK Continental Shelf. These and similar collections require adequate resourcing, but the potential return on investment is considerable, and often not appreciated by senior management or funders. We are compiling an advocacy document and are looking for short case studies to illustrate the range of uses, from locating new mineral deposits to exploring deep-time climate change tipping points, and from carbon sequestration to siting new wind farms.

Following an introductory talk, we are looking for lightning talks of examples from the audiences, followed by a wider discussion.

Registration

Everyone welcome. Please come with lightning talks, from the floor / Zoom, of successful case studies.
