Society Discussion Group - report
The Geological Society Discussion Group (GSDG) has just had its summer outing to Denbies Vineyard, on the Chalk scarp of the North Downs, near Dorking, writes Dawne Riddle
Emeritus Professor Dick Selley entertained the party with a tour and an account of British viticulture over the last many thousand years. GSDG meetings usually take place over dinner in London.
Constituted as a Specialist Group of the Geological Society from January 2017 the aim of the GSDG is to foster wide ranging scientific discussion on topical issues. A speaker introduces a discussion topic for 10 minutes, followed by informal discourse around the dinner table. Five meetings have taken place to date with a wide range of speakers and topics. The group is going from strength to strength and our forward programme is on the website. Our next meeting is on September 19th at Burlington House.
Programme: 2017
