Join the Science Committee!
The Society is looking for volunteers to join the Science Committee, writes Georgina Worrall.
We are seeking volunteers for the Science Committee, which reports to the Science & External Relations Committee and is responsible for shaping the Society’s scientific activities and programme. The Committee’s main task is to ensure that the scientific output of the Society remains consistent with the Science Strategy, and to maintain a high quality and relevant programme of scientific meetings.
As well as advising on ideas for future Special Publications/Thematic Sets, the Committee steers and encourages publications based on these meetings in our Journals and Memoirs. The committee comprises a Chair, five Council members and five from the Fellowship. It meets three times a year. An important aspect of the role will be to act as dedicated representatives to the Specialist Groups, attend their meetings ex officio, and provide a link between Science Committee and the Groups. Length of service is usually three years.
If you are able to give some of your time we invite you to volunteer to serve on this committee. You may nominate another Fellow, but please sound them out first! The situation is unpaid, but we reimburse travelling expenses.
If you are interested, please email your CV and a brief supporting statement to Georgina Worrall by Monday 5 March.
