Calling Sheffield Geologists
2013 marks the centenary of the opening of the Geology Department at the University of Sheffield, writes Phil Gibbard.

A book, covering the department's history, achievements and eventual closure, is being prepared to commemorate this influential institute. However, following an appeal for information, it became clear that there was a strong demand from both ex-staff and alumni for a full-scale reunion - and a ‘Centenary Celebration’ seemed most appropriate.
This event will take place on 21 September 2013 in Firth Hall, University of Sheffield. If you are a Sheffield Geology or an associated graduate, your department needs you!
