Event details
The Western Regional Group is pleased to welcome David Withington. Site investigations and geological fieldwork can often mean coming into contact with not only the physical environment but also the biological. The role of the consultant ecologist is to make sure that site works can progress without laws relating to wildlife being contravened. But typically the work of the ecologist takes place prior to ground being broken which can often place site workers in a vulnerable position and even worse place them in a situation where their actions lead to prosecution. This talk outlines what any site workers need to know prior to entering a site and what to look out for so that legislation relating to wildlife is not breached.
Speaker
David Withington – a geology graduate who worked for a site investigation consultancy prior to becoming a teacher. After teaching geology and chemistry for 30 years changed career into ecological consultancy and now works for a CIEEM award-winning consultancy based in Stroud.
