University College London is running a pop-up science event to celebrate Earth Science Week, during which Earth Science PhD students and early-career researchers describe their cutting edge research in a fun and accessible way.

‘Pit Stop Science’ will run from 10 – 2pm in UCL and highlight the diverse areas of research in Earth Sciences. Passers-by will be encouraged to stop for a quick science ‘Pit Stop’ and learn about a variety of topics including how we study the deep interior of planets (featuring a large polystyrene Mercury and a crystal structure model) and other cutting edge research being done by UCL Earth scientists. Over the course of the event five scientists, with the help of props, will give short presentations on their subject followed by interactive Q&A sessions.
